Relocated from Chicago, Mark McKay is a singer/songwriter based out of the Washington, DC area whose rugged, energetic songs are steeped in the traditions of rootsy rock'n roll. Mark's songwriting has been compared to such greats as Steve Earle and Neil Young. His voice has some of the grit of Tom Waits and the passion of Michael Stipe. Nothing Personal is Mark's debut solo album. Before heading out on his own, Mark played lead guitar for Maryland alt-country rockers, Sixty Acres. His emotional lead guitar work added both texture and melody to Sixty Acres' critically acclaimed album Banjos and Sunshine. Nothing Personal was recorded in Boston, Massachusetts with producer Ducky Carlisle. Mark's band included Ken Schopf and Dimitri Fane (both of Slide) on drums and bass respectively, Mike Castellana (Nash Saterfield) on guitar, and Matt Felch (Sixty Acres) on backing vocals. Mark's version of the song St. Matthew is featured on Papa Nez: A Loose Salute to the Work of Michael Nesmith. (The album also features: Sid Griffin, John Jorgenson, The Mary Janes, Frog Holler and Last Train Home.)
